Happy Birthday, Kailey

I get to cook a turkey!  I’m so excited. (how sick am I?)  I’ve never cooked a turkey before.  My mother is always the gracious host for Thanksgiving and I leave the turkey in her capable hands.  But on Tuesday night, the youth that meet at my house decided to have our own family meal together next Tuesday.  And so I offered to make the turkey and they will bring all the trimmings.  Now, all I have to do is figure out how to cook a turkey on a day when I have meetings from about 2pm – 7 pm and they arrive for dinner at 7:30 pm! 🙂  I’m such a glutton for punishment.  But nevertheless – I’m pretty excited about the opportunity to join the great domestic greats in my own holiday adventures.

Kailey_and_markToday is my dear friend Kailey’s birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BABE!  You are such an awesome friend.  I love you and am so proud of who you are. Kailey has always been mature beyond her years and gives so much of herself to others.  She is a true friend and I’m so grateful to call her that.  Here she is with her man, Mark.  What a cute couple, huh? Kailey was one of my youth from church and has morphed into a great friend.  She went with me to Belarus one year and has a true heart for the people of that country.  Kailey will be the best math teacher ever! (Sorry – Jen! She’ll tie with you.) I’m so excited because Kailey will be back to JC for the spring semester for student teaching.  We’ll have lots of time to hang out and especailly work out together. Grrrr . . . I’m ready, Kailey!  Bring it.

Today I walked downtown for a late lunch.  I grabbed a sandwich and went to the Governor’s Garden to enjoy the beautiful day. I love praying outside.  I just love the natural world and the feel, smell and sights of God’s world. It was a great soul pick-me up before heading back to work.  Wednesdays are a long day and the little breather in the day really helps.  I am so blessed by the warm weather we’ve been having.  That truly lifts my spirits.  Tomorrow I’m spending the afternoon on the golf course with a few friends.  I can’t wait for that.  I borrowed my sister’s clubs since I needed to borrow her putter anyway since I lost mine last week. She has nicer clubs than me and so I wanted to play with a nicer set to see how I like them.  Anyway – I’ll be soaking up the sun rays tomorrow and praising God for the beauty of the day – plus a great sport with great friends.

I hope that you find a way to enjoy the day as well!
