    Day After

Made a couple of trips to the hospital to see my sister and Blake. He is a doll (sorry, Greg – a handsome doll). 🙂 He slept most of the day. Sleeping and eating are his big priorities – just like his aunt! HA I took a few more pics today and added them to the photo album on the left. The first five in the album are new ones – including one of me holding Blake. Despite the look on Blake’s face in the photo, he loves me – really. Hung out with some friends tonight. Then, afterwards, spent some time with some youth “decorating” cars. Did you know…

    Blake has arrived!

Blake Meredith has finally blessed us with his presence! Blake was born today at 4:47 pm. Angela and Greg went in at 6:30 am this morning and things progressed nicely throughout the day. All are doing well. Blake is 7 lbs, 8 ounces and 19″ long. And perfect in every way! Both sets of grandparents and Blake’s two aunts, Joni and I, were there all day – wearing holes in the waiting room floor. We were able to go in and see Blake right after he was born. Lots of pictures and passing around the baby. Then, they went through all the cleaning and prepping they have to do. Blake…

    Love Actually

I watched the movie Love Actually tonight. A few very unnecessary scenes as is often the case in films these days but I loved the overall message of recognizing that love is actually all around us. So much seems to focus on the hurting, the suffering, the betraying and the heartache that is portrayed as inevitable in life. Rarely are we encouraged to notice the very abundant love that does truly exist in the world and in a wide variety of relationships and communities. For those of us that recognize that God is love, this serves to remind us of God’s saturating presence in the world and that God is…

    Adjusting

After a summer of trips, youth camps, and other outdoor adventures, I am struggling to adjust to working in the office. My crazy travel schedule has finally come to an end and I am in the office all week – trying to remember what it is like to work this normal, yet odd schedule. Last night, I even went to deacon’s meeting thirty minutes early because I had forgotten the time – it had been so long since I’ve been able to attend this monthly meeting. One of the things I miss about teaching is the fresh beginning you have each fall. In youth ministry, everything has to keep running.…

    The Long Haul

It’s been a couple of days since I posted. Busy days and I couldn’t get geared up to write anything. I think I’m a little “aunt”sy about my nephew’s arrival. Keeping thinking he will come and he isn’t coming yet! At different times in my life and ministry, I go through the typical evaluation stage where I wonder if I’m making a difference. I think most caring and conscientious people do this. Sometimes I can easily assure myself that I, indeed, am participating in some eternal contributions. Other days, like the last couple, I can be overwhelmed with the amount there is to do; be frustrated at the fact that…
