Remembering the Important Things

Today was a day of catch up on house chores. Bills paid, laundry done, dishes washed. Feeling good and almost caught up at home. Had dinner with my family tonight and then watched the new release 13 Going On 30 which was a pretty cute movie. Similar to the movie Big starring Tom Hanks.

Anyway – I was touched by the reminder that it is important to always remember what is important in life and what kind of person you want to be remember for being. Recognizing true friends; loving family; doing what you enjoy; being a person of character and integrity. In this movie, we get a needed reminder that there are more important pursuits in life than wealth; popularity; achievement; physical beauty.

Hebrews 2:1 is also a reminder to us to remember what is truth so that we will not drift away from it.

Therefore we must pay greater attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away from it. Heb. 2:1 (NRSV)

Pay greater attention to the things that are important, the lessons we’ve been taught, so we don’t drift or lose sight of them – in all aspects of life. It is never too late to stop and pay greater attention to the kind of person God calls u to be and to refocus our lives there. I have been thinking about that a lot lately. I need to do some refocusing myself and spend my precious life moments on things of value and worth. It never hurts to get a “priority-check”ever so often – even when it comes from a most uncommon place like 13 Going On 30!
